The Meateater SeriesWendy Kveck's artwork is an examination of contemporary visual culture—as both reflective of, and an omnipotent force acting on—our collective psyches. Continued investigations into imagery from art history and today’s media reveal myriad female representations as incessant signifiers of excess, desire, anxiety and fear. Kveck works with friends and professional performers to stage dramas about such constructions of femininity, exploring social ritual and the notion of Woman as consumer and the consumed. Wendy Kveck is a visual artist working across the mediums of painting, performance and video. Born and raised in the Chicago suburbs, she currently lives and works in Las Vegas, Nevada. She holds a BFA in from the University of Iowa and received her MFA in 2007 from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where she currently teaches as an adjunct faculty member. In 2007 Kveck received an honorarium funded by the National Endowment for the Arts to participate as a guest artist at the Americans for the Arts national conference, “Risk and Reward”. Her work has been exhibited nationally in Nevada, Texas, Arizona and Chicago. |
