MARIA JOSE CONCHA
Maria Jose Concha studied at the School of Art of Universidad Catolica de Chile. The theme of her work is the representation of the Patagonia landscape, through expressive painting, which unveils an experience of the landscape. “Landscape transforms into painting…. So the landscape is more than just an image; is a moment in time that considers all our senses. This chromatic symbolism is an abstract conjugation of living Patagonia.”
Maria Jose has participated in several collective exhibitions in Chile, including selected awards for 2005 graduation projects from the Universidad Catolica School of Art. This year she received prestigious awards, including, winner of the regional visual arts project for the 2007 National Fund for the Development of Culture and Arts (FONDART), and an honorary mention in the “Painting Patagonia” contest, which was the first Teraike International Painting Contest. Maria Jose has also exhibited work recently in a show titled “Landscape” in Santiago, July 2007, and “Arte Ayuda”, October 2007.
