Lady of the Lake

Kathleen Wilke blurs the lines of poetry and fiction through her underwater photography. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Wilke attended the Art Academy of Cincinnati and graduated from The Art Institute of Boston, where she majored in illustration and photography.

Changing water effects illuminate the simplest subjects and transform imagery into beautiful, surreal and ethereal, painterly masterpieces. Her latest series, titled Lady Of The Lake, is taken from the old East Dallas myth of the woman who drowned in White Rock Lake. Her subject is so peaceful, and almost appears to be sleeping. Other underwater subjects of hers seem to be dancing and playing, with mischievous, provocative, even nymph-like qualities.

Wilke was first place winner in the Unscene Tour, 2008, a photographic competition generated in Los Angeles. It was through this competition that Wilke was introduced to and began her relationship with DECORAZONgallery. Since then, Wilke has also exhibited at Red Dot in London, 2008, and Bridge Miami, 2008. Her images have been chosen for international publicity of both fairs.

Kathleen Wilke currently resides in Dallas, Texas.
