JESUS GALVAN

Jesús Galván Lucio was born in Tamaulipas, México on February 3rd, 1973. His artistic formation began at the young age of eight years old, when he was taking private painting classes at his hometown, San Fernando. He moved to Monterrey, México, at the beginning of the 90's in order to complete his studies. He finished his studies of Visual Arts at Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL.) in 1999.

Jesús Galván art pieces are about those nostalgic moments, recovering childhood elements and creating new emotional landscapes, such as a toy, a horse, a lottery game. Imagination and the way in which we incorporate our memories, in a partial way, speaks about the vulnerability of human mind, especially in early ages. This thematic represents the author's point of view, and the way he observes his own childhood behind a conceptual perspective. The great diversity of media, demonstrates his master hood when he paints his artworks on the canvas.

"I always thought that my vocation was to be an artist. I remember my first experience with drawing, at my hometown… I used to draw little illustrations on my notebooks with color pencils. After that I was fascinated by surrealism. I was a Salvador Dalí admirer… Recently I've been interested in conceptual art and contemporary movements…"

Galvan’s artwork has been shown in different places in the city of Monterrey and other important cities of Mexico, New York, Chicago, and San Antonio in the USA. He currently lives in Dallas, Texas were he has had the opportunity to participate in several art exhibits and convocations Some of the latest exhibits are the 2nd Annual Juried Art Exhibit, “Made in Dallas” at the Latino Cultural Center in 2005. He also participated in the “Outside the Lines” organized by the Bath House Cultural Center in White Rock Lake.

His next Solo Exhibit at the DECORAZON gallery is schedule for Thursday February 22, 2007 from 6-9 pm.
