StatementMy work deals with the transient nature of Las Vegas, from the unending construction to the spectacle of implosion. I am interested in Vegas’ ability to constantly reinvent itself and its reinterpretation of an American utopia. BiographyErin Stellmon spent her first 18 years in Portland, Oregon where she grew up with aspirations of going into advertising. When she left to attend Parsons School of Design in New York City, she soon realized that her love of Americana and nostalgia would be better served pursuing fine art. After receiving her BFA in painting and spending 11 years in New York, she left to attend University of Nevada Las Vegas to gain her MFA. Through her studies there, she found that her early love of graphic design resurfaced through traditional techniques of collage. Erin was the recipient of The Outstanding Graduate Student Award at UNLV in 2007 and has been hired to do numerous public art projects through the City of Las Vegas. When not in the studio, Erin is an adjunct professor in the UNLV art department and the Media Coordinator at the Las Vegas Neon Museum/Boneyard. Erin Stellmon - gallery portfolio (.pdf, 979k) |
